KSA grants 10 licences for online gaming in the Netherlands

The Netherlands Gaming Authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has granted 10 online gaming licences, moving regulated online gambling in the Netherlands one step closer to becoming a reality. The licences will permit their owners to offer what the regulator describes as “games of chance” via the internet in the country from 1 October 2021. Here is the full list of operators that received a licence.

The KSA informed today (29) 10 companies that they will receive a license that will allow them to offer games of chance via the internet from 1 October 2021:

- TOTO Online BV

- FPO Nederland BV

- Holland Casino NV

- NSUS Malta Limited

- Play North Ltd

- Tombola Limited

- Hillside (New Media Malta) Plc

- Bingoal Nederland BV

- Betent BV

- LiveScore Malta Limited

Earlier this year, the KSA revealed that 29 applications had been submitted, with this marking the first confirmation that any have been successful.

High requirements are imposed on a licence, including in the field of addiction prevention and consumer protection, and the KSA tests rigorously,” René Jansen, Chairman of the KSA, said.

The Chairman also said he expects more licensees to be added in the short term, as several companies have yet to submit an application, and gave a prospective date of July 2022 for when he anticipates a more complete picture of online gambling in the Netherlands.

The Gaming Authority will soon publish the Gaming Guide on its official site. This allows the player to check whether a provider has a license to offer games of chance in the Netherlands and with which websites or apps.

The KSA urges people who want to gamble online to do so with a provider licensed by the Gaming Authority. A legal provider is supervised by the Gaming Authority. This creates a safe environment: the player is assured of a fair game and the provider must make sure that the player does not exceed his limits,” states the KSA on its website.
