For the first time, MIBR gains a CEO totally dedicated to the organization, since the brand was relaunched, in 2018, by the Immortals Gaming Club (IGC). Roberta Coelho takes over after a solid stint as C-Level in companies such as Rock in Rio and Game XP, in which she contributed to the appreciation of the female eSports scene and created the Grrrls League, the first female league in Brazil and the largest in CS: GO of the world.
Another big news is the creation of an advisory board formed by the new executive, Paulo Velloso (founder of MIBR), Ivan Martinho (CEO Latam of the World Surf League) and Yuri Uchiyama (CEO of Gamers Club). Yuri will occupy the position of Chairman of the new Board.
With extensive experience in the entertainment market, Roberta knows the weight of the MIBR shirt. “We were the first competitive team in Brazil to win a world title. We teach Brazilians to cheer and suffer for eSports. We are proud to be Brazilian and to carry our country's name on our shirt. Investing strategically to take the MIBR to ever higher places in the main podiums of eSports in the world and focusing on the experience for the fans will be the 'core' of my work,” she says.
“As a fan and executive, I'm very happy and proud to join the MIBR community, a team that has an incredible history and so many passionate fans,” she added.
Before joining MIBR, Roberta was co-creator and CEO of Game XP, the first gamepark in the world that has games, music and entertainment among its pillars. Since its launch in 2017, Game XP has gathered an audience of over 500,000 people and generated more than 12 million views on live streams, including the CS:GO women's league, the Grrrls League.
Coelho has also served as CFO and Head of Business Development at Rock in Rio for nearly 10 years, helping to transform the company into a global corporation, producing the world's largest music and entertainment festival in Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon and Las Vegas.
Another important change at MIBR is having Yuri Uchiyama as Chairman of the company's new Board. For him, Roberta's entry is a great milestone for the team. “It is very important for a Brazilian organization to have a dedicated Brazilian management team. MIBR will have people focused on their growth and helping to bring more titles to their fans. I'm excited to be able to support Roberta on this journey and I believe she is the right person to take MIBR forward,” he says.
To debate issues of relevance to the team, an Advisory Board was also created. In addition to Roberta Coelho and Yuri Uchiyama, founding members Ivan Martinho and Paulo Velloso will have seats at the table. MIBR's Advisory Board aims to bring together executives from different sectors and community members with diverse perspectives and experiences that, together, can help MIBR strengthen its position in Brazil and grow globally.
“Participating in the Board is an honor, a great pride. An incredible possibility of being able to contribute with Roberta to take MIBR back to the top,” emphasizes Paulo Velloso, founder of MIBR.
Martinho was also pleased with his position within the Council. “After years of working with traditional sports, debuting in the eSports scene at MIBR, being able to learn and contribute to such a winning and ambitious organization is a reason for great joy and responsibility,” he concludes.
MIBR is a leading eSports brand with fans all over the world, mainly in Brazil. In fact, MIBR was the third most tweeted team globally in 2020 by Twitter Gaming Insights.
