Betfair invites Jadson and Djalminha to analyze Copa do Brasil final

This Wednesday (19), the Copa do Brasil will consecrate the 34th champion in its history. Flamengo and Corinthians face each other at Maracanã stadium after the draw in the first leg at NeoQuimica Arena. This week, Betfair invited Djalminha and Jadson, two stars who played in the most popular clubs in the country, to analyze this year's final, and each left their opinion on the deciding match.

The match promises a full house at Maracanã, around 66 thousand tickets were made available for Flamengo fans, and 4 thousand tickets were sold to Corinthians supporters in less than two hours after the box office opened. Whoever wins the duel will be the champion of the Copa do Brasil 2022. In case of a new tie, the decision will be made in the penalty shootout.

According to the analysis of Betfair, specialist in sports odds, Flamengo is the favorite to win the Copa do Brasil 2022 title with a 95% (1.22) chance of taking the ‘tetra’. Corinthians appears with only 5% (3.75) of title probability.

The highlights of the match are Gabigol as the athlete with the highest chances of scoring a goal at any time in the final with 16% (1.95), followed by forward Pedro with 10% (2.2). The first ‘Alvinegro’ player with more chances to score appears in sixth place: Roger Guedes, with 5% (3.3) of scoring a goal in the decision.

Djalminha and Jadson anticipate the final with Betfair

Formed in the base divisions of Flamengo, Djalminha was part of the winning squad of the first Copa do Brasil won by the Rio de Janeiro club. Invited by Betfair to comment on the 2022 Copa do Brasil final, he believes that his former club needs to have a home team attitude to win the title.

“I believe Flamengo needs to be a little more aggressive. In Itaquera, it played a controlled game, but in many moments it didn't attack as it should, preferred to touch the ball, to hold it. And I believe that at Maracanã, with the support of the fan pushing Flamengo, it will go up all the time. I think it does not have to modify anything, just be more intense and look for the goal,” commented Djalminha at the Betfair’s event.

Djalminha also commented that the decisive match at home favors Flamengo. “Now Flamengo has a lot more chances to win the title, mainly by getting a tie away from home. Corinthians needs to win and, if tied, win on penalties. Their task is more difficult. As I think Corinthians failed to enjoy the support of its fans,” he concludes.

Jadson, two-time Brazilian champion for Corinthians in 2015 and 2017 and ace of the Brasileirão in 2015, was also invited by Betfair to give his opinion. The athlete said that the experience of his former teammates could make a difference in the decision at Maracanã.

“I believe that Corinthians has a great chance of being champion at Maracanã. Even playing against a star-studded Flamengo, Corinthians are going strong for this deciding match and just need to be cool enough to decide the game when they have the opportunity. The team has great experienced players like Renato Augusto, Fábio Santos, Fagner, Gil, Balbuena and Cássio himself, who is going through a great phase at the club, who can make the difference he needs to bring this title to the club.”

The former midfielder ended by saying that he believes a lot in the group's work for this Wednesday's decision. “With the focus on the objective of winning the final and the necessary calm, they can win the game and be champions once again. But it won't be easy, but I really believe in this group.”

Flamengo and Corinthians have each lifted the Copa do Brasil champion cup three times, Rio’s team won in 1990, 2006 and 2013 and the ‘Timão’ won in 1995, 2002 and 2009. Whoever wins the match joins Palmeiras with four cups , and are behind Grêmio (5) and Cruzeiro (6) as the greatest champions of the Copa do Brasil.
