The traditional London fair returns to the normal calendar in 2023 and will be one of the most complete in the last five years, as Liliana Costa, LatAm director at Clarion Gaming, exclusively told Games Magazine Brasil during the G2E. Scheduled for February 6-9 at Excel London, the event will have many new features in its next edition.
GMB – The fairs of the global games industry come together to bring the news of the sector and complement each other in this important market. And it is for no other reason that, as director of LatAm for ICE London, you are present at G2E in Las Vegas. How do you see this edition of the fair?
Liliana Costa – G2E has a long history and is one of the points where the industry is and where news is presented. ICE, in London, opens the calendar at the beginning of the year for the world of games and G2E practically ends it. There are some differences, but G2E is an extraordinary event, especially as we have different parts of the industry, such as land-based, online and travel gaming. This year we were pleasantly surprised to see more online, which is very good. It's a joy to see this industry sustainable and all together.
The online sector here follows the tradition of the London fair, which is already more set in this digital world!
Exactly. And I must say that ICE 2023 is going to be an event that goes back to the classic. We will return to the original date, from February 6th to 9th, at Excel London, and with all areas: land-based, online, payment, iGaming, affiliates and we will also see news such as eSports and other initiatives, such as influential women in gaming, consumer protection zone, responsible gaming and sustainable industry. Many news will be shown at ICE 2023, such as new products, new companies and new technologies. We can't wait for that.
In other words, a very complete fair!
Very complete. I believe it will be one of the most complete in the last five years. Of course we had the pandemic, but we went back to our original size. Or rather, a little bigger, but with lots of new features. We are working hard to provide more and more platforms within the event to facilitate the connection between different strands of the industry. It's a very big event, but we're going to make networking easier and everyone can be sure they'll find the ones they want to talk to at the event.
In addition to having grown in size, was there a return of players who could not be present this year due to the date change?
Exactly. We’ll see all the companies that we are used to finding since 30 years ago. Even during the pandemic we are working very closely with them to help the industry come back and even stronger. It has been an extraordinary journey, as it is very important for us to be on the side of our customers and to understand what their challenges are. It was a bit of a challenge to be at ICE 2020, but that has been overcome and together we will present at ICE 2023 a fantastic presence.
