Betfair close to sign as new master sponsor of Cruzeiro for USD 4.7m

Cruzeiro is very close to announcing another partnership. The negotiations are well advanced with Betfair so that the bookmaker can display its brand in the central part of the uniform for R$ 25 million (USD 4.7m). The international sports betting house already has the majority partner of SAF do Cruzeiro, Ronaldo Fenômeno, as ambassador since July of this year.

According to an investigation, the negotiation agreements are properly forwarded and the amounts are around R$ 25 million (USD 4.7m), which would be, in terms of money, the largest sponsorship in the history of Cruzeiro. 

In terms of comparison, Flamengo collects about R$ 33 million (USD 6.2m) from Banco BRB, while Palmeiras gets something around R$ 30 million (USD 5.6m) from Crefisa, just for the priorityspace in the jersey. Atletico-MG, in turn, receives from Betano R$ 15 million (USD 2.8m) per season.

In addition to the sponsorship amounts, the company would also pay the fine for the withdrawal of another sponsor from the same segment that currently sponsors the club.

The goal is to have the new sponsor stamped on the noble part of Cruzeiro's jersey as early as next season, when the team returns to play in Serie A. Currently, the club has a partnership with PixBet, also in the sports betting business, but the contract will be terminated at the end of the year, that is, there is no incompatibility with the brands.

Pedro Lourenço, from Supermercados BH, had already given his endorsement for the removal of the current master sponsorship of the prominent place of the jersey and should follow in the club with other projects and with its brand stamped in another area.

Betfair had also already struck a deal with Ronaldo Fenômeno himself and has a section within his RonaldoTV channel on Twitch.
