If there is any ideal way to start a great poker festival, it is certainly with the title of a tournament. And that's what André Akkari, who started the BSOP Millions, did by winning the PokerStars Invitational, an event for guests. With the achievement, the brand’s Team Pro took the buy-in of the Main Event, which has value of R$ 4,000 (US$ 750).
Distant from national poker for three years, Akkari talked about the feeling of returning after the Covid-19 pandemic. "It's fantastic. BSOP is my home, I like it like hell, my friends are here. All that made me what I am is this crowd that works here, who organizes everything, the dealers, the friends, the players, so I freak. For me being here is top."
Sharing the table with PokerStars bosses and other key brand names such as Team Pro Sam Grafton, eliminated in eighth place, Akkari revealed a bit of how they were seeing the event.
"They're super happy. They looked in the hall and they didn't believe me. This structure is better than any other major event, so for any foreigner who comes here, they 'freak out', they are not used to such a structure, such an organization, dealers like ours. Brazil is top 1," Akkari says.
"Too good. Poker is hot anyway," commented the pro about starting the BSOP Millions by nailing an event, even if it's a celebratory one. "I played the entire tournament joking, laughing, in the review. This way of playing poker is maybe the coolest way there is, sometimes cooler than playing professional poker, serious poker. You keep laughing, joking, asking for cards."
In addition to Sam Grafton, names such as Cláudia Rodrigues, former Globo actress Felipe Phil, commentator and streamer of PokerStars, Mário Jr. and Fernanda Lopes, Reg Life, Jordan Gnat, CEO of Playmaker, Mike and Scott the CEOs of the red sword website, among others, were present in the competition. In a relaxed atmosphere, guests were able to enjoy this incredible event, common to all BSOP Millions.
