At the end of the College of Leaders meeting, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), held a press conference and informed that the House will maintain virtual meetings until Carnival, but that it is working hard on all assumed commitments.
According to him, one of the topics is Bill 442/91, which legalizes all types of gaming in Brazil. “The discussion about gaming is on one of those agendas from the last session and as soon as the text is really well solidified by the rapporteur, it could be in the Plenary next week or even in February.”
According to Lira, “we made an agreement and exhausted the discussion to vote at the beginning of this year. We already fulfilled the commitment to vote on the matter of agricultural pesticides and other matters,” he said, reinforcing that everything that was discussed regarding the guidelines is being fulfilled.
At the meeting of the College of Leaders, the matter was not discussed. “We did not address the issue of gaming here, but as the project has already entered the agenda, the opinion was read, the discussion was closed and there was an agreement to take it to a vote at the beginning of the year, it can enter at any time [ on vote]. It i already on the agenda."
Arthur Lira told journalists that the rapporteur is finishing the text that has already been read and discussed and that “it may be voted on, to avoid highlights, modifications or to improve. The rapporteur can still do that,” he explained.
In recent days the President of the Chamber has reinforced that all agreements are being fulfilled and that it is natural to discuss and vote on the gaming project, as this was agreed upon when the urgent request was approved in December.
