The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced, through a circular letter sent to the presidents of the Football Federations, the expansion of the contract for monitoring national football competitions, including all championships of the State Federations of the first division. The agreement between the CBF and the company Sportradar was extended until 2024.
The letter is signed by the acting president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues Gomes, who highlights that the extension of the contract reiterates “the (CBF’s) commitment to promoting the integrity and ethical behavior of Brazilian football.” Rodrigues mentioned the expansion of the partnership and the extension to the 27 State Federations with the objective of monitoring and guaranteeing protection in relation to sports fraud.
With the partnership, all championship games will be monitored by Sportradar, a world leader in prevention, detection and intelligence in the fight against match manipulation, to ensure protection against sports fraud.
Unfortunately, both in Brazil and abroad, match-fixing schemes have already been proven, linked to the international sports betting system, which makes such a preventive measure necessary and relevant.
During the term of the contract, the following championships will be covered:
*Brazilian Serie A Championship
*Brazilian Serie B Championship
*Brazilian Serie C Championship
*Brazilian Serie D Championship
*Brazil's Cup
*27 First Division State Championships
*Brazilian Aspirants Championship
*Brazilian Under-20 Championship
Monitoring
Sportradar Integrity Services, a world leader in sports technology, will use the experience acquired over 17 years to monitor betting involving football, through the Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS), which according to the company is recognized for experts in the field of sports betting and integrity.
The circular letter states that “a global team of qualified integrity experts analyzes betting patterns for abnormalities, and any suspicious games are reported to partners, allowing critical visibility into the manipulation of game results around the world.”
According to the CBF, Sportradar has already detected 6,900 suspicious matches over the last 17 years and more than 900 of them in 2021 alone. The highest body of Brazilian football also informed that the coordinator of stadiums and security, Rômulo Reis, will work together with the game monitoring company.
