At the same time that it achieved surprising results, Caixa released, together with the consolidated results, some topics that make it one of the most important institutions in Brazil.
Among them, Caixa achieved the best score in the integrated governance and management index (iGG) among state-owned financial institutions. The index was developed by the Federal Audit Court to assess processes related to the management and governance of public institutions.
The entity also received Level 1 Certification, with maximum score, in the 5th Cycle of the Governance Indicator of the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of State-Owned Companies.
Caixa obtained the best global score in the environmental category by Moody’s Investor Service in the first ESG (environmental, social and governance) assessment, in which 155 banks participated at a global level. In the environmental aspect, Caixa obtained the best overall score, together with three other institutions, from Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland.
Caixa Lotteries
Caixa Lotteries received the ISO 27001 certificate issued by the BSI (British Standards Institution). The international certification in control and security standards attests to high standards of information security, related to the pillars of confidentiality, integrity, availability and authenticity of information and data, for the processes of managing the draw, calculation and payment of prizes.
ISO 27001 Certification is a prerequisite for certification at the maximum level (level 2) of the World Lottery Association (WLA) security control standard. BSI has recommended WLA level 2 certification for Caixa Lotteries.
Caixa Loterias broke all records in 2021. The volume of game sales was the highest in history. The collection reached R$16.9 billion (US$ 3.35bln) in all modalities, 7.7% higher than the previous record of R$15.6 billion (US$ 3.09bln), in 2020. This demonstrates the efficiency and seriousness of this management also in Lotteries.
In 2021, it was paid the largest single prize of Caixa Lotteries. The Mega da Virada event, held on December 31, awarded two bets with a total value of R$ 378.1 million (US$ 75.07m). More than 333 million bets were made, totaling more than R$ 1.51 billion (US$ 299k) in revenue, 28.0% more than in 2020, and 70.4% more than in 2018. Adding up all the modalities of Caixa Lotteries, more than R$ 5.9 billion (US$ 1.17bln) in prizes were paid during 2021.
All this result also generates a transfer of R$ 7.5 billion (US$ 1.49bln) in social benefits, such as for the INSS, Public Security, Sports and Culture, in addition to the payment of Income Tax.
