According to local media O Antagonista, when asked if the vote in remote session would not harm the debate around a controversial topic, Bacelar stated that “the discussion on the subject is already exhaustive.”
“This issue has been going through Congress for 30 years. There have been many seminars, technical meetings, public hearings. It is an exhaustive subject already, the discussion on the subject is already exhaustive. I even get embarrassed when I'm called to a debate, because I don't have new arguments anymore.”
Bacelar also argued that “the controls are reliable” for the project's remote voting. “I see no impediment [to voting on the project in remote session]. The Chamber already has proven know-how. We have voted remotely even constitutional amendments. If it’s legal and safe, I don’t see a problem.”
Bacelar again defended the release of the gaming sector, arguing that “there is no developed country in the world where the activity is prohibited” and “there is no chance of non-gaming in any society.”
According to the parliamentarian, the group in favor of the topic is “managing to overcome the resistance” of the evangelical bench.
“With most of the bench, it's a civilized conversation, a deep debate. Now, it has a hard core that, even for the sake of survival and maintenance in the leadership of the group, radicalizes. This is not a religious issue, it is about economic and freedom.”
