BiS co-founder and organizer Alessandro Valente said that “we are delighted to announce that after taking into account the current situation with the war in Ukraine and looking at inspiring people and entities in the industry, the Brazilian iGaming Summit organization has decided to adopt a different approach and instead of blocking Russian entrepreneurs, we will donate 100% of the revenue generated by their companies to the International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC.”
Numerous entities and companies are blocking Russians from their events and investments in Russia as a way of enforcing economic sanctions carried out by governments around the world. Instead of sanctions, BiS sought an alternative to contribute to refugees and accepting exhibitors from that country will be the way to participate more actively in humanitarian aid, which is so necessary at this time.
“We could simply prevent entrepreneurs from participating in the next edition of BiS 2022, which will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, between the 28th and 30th of June this year. But instead we decided that using their own money could have a positive impact,” Valente explained.
