More responsibility for confederations

Deputy Felipe Carreras suggests modernization of Pelé Law with sports betting in Brazil

Brazilian Federal Deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), president of the Chamber's Sports Commission and rapporteur of the project to modernize the General Sports Law (Lei Pelé), is studying the inclusion in the text of provisions that grant sports confederations more responsibility for the transfer of the funds from the percentage (of 2%) collected from gambling in the country.

The idea is that these entities have an effective participation in the transfer, authorizing operations with the beneficiaries of the resources.

In addition, confederations should also set up audits to provide more transparency and fairness in the calculation and dissemination of data on betting games in the fixed-odds and lottery modalities.

Felipe Carreras is still considering submitting the report to Parliament for approval in the week in which the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, celebrated on April 6, is celebrated.
