Unusual situation in Goiania, Brazil

Pilot's incident in Stock Car race "viralizes" Betway brand on TV and networks

A move that made pilot Atila Abreu’s car went off the track -without any serious consequence- in Stock Car da Goiania, made the Betway brand go viral on social networks. The car hit one of the bookmaker's advertising board on the side of the circuit, and reached the pits with it attached to the front of his car, in a close-up image captured by the TV broadcast. Abreu and Betway took it with humor. Watch the video.

The race of the Stock Car Pro Series in Goiânia reserved a Sunday of strong emotions for pilot Átila Abreu. Starting from 18th on the grid, he even left the track at more than 200 km/h after an incident with Felipe Massa and ended up hitting an advertising board of bookmaker Betway. He then had to go through the pits to remove it from the front of his car.

In this way and without proposing, Betway, official sponsor of the Stock Car Pro Series Brasil since this year, has obtained significant exposure thanks to the several minutes of TV that the brand had in the official broadcast of the race on Band and SportTV.

The Betway Brasil account uploaded a funny post with the video on Instagram that registered thousands of views and was shared hundreds of times. Even the official Stock Car uploaded it to their stories and the pilot Atila Abreu himself had a humorous dialogue with the bookmaker's CM.

In a short time, the video of Abreu's car out off the track driving with the Betway brand embedded in its forehead in the Goiania circuit, went viral on networks and generated an unexpected but welcome repercussion for Betway.

“The car was competitive, too bad Felipe Massa thought he was racing alone and pulled me off the track in a stretch at more than 200km/h, I was lucky not to ride that stretch, the consequences could have been serious! It amazes me that I went to talk to him after the race, a super experienced driver and he thought that this is normal... Normal is to respect the opponent's space as I did with Daniel Serra in a similar move on the same stretch of the track and not putting others at risk!”, he explained after the race.

Last February, bookmaker Betway signed an exclusive partnership for the betting industry with Stock Car Pro Series Brasil. It was the company's first motorsport sponsorship that seeks to give the brand wide TV exposure throughout the year, with each of the races broadcast on the open-air channel Band and SportTV.

“This agreement is not only the first for the Betway brand in motorsport, it is also our first sporting agreement in Brazil,” commented Anthony Werkman, CEO of Betway.

Arthur Silva, Head of Marketing for Betway in Brazil, said: “We are very happy to be together as sponsors of one of the biggest categories in Brazilian motorsport. We strongly believe that this sport, which is already the passion of many, still has great potential for growth in Brazil.”

“We are very proud to have Betway as a sponsor of the Stock Car Pro Series. One of the world leaders in this segment, which has been constantly investing in major sports competitions and, above all, who supports and defends responsible gaming,” says Fernando Julianelli, CEO of Stock Car Pro Series Brasil.
