Sorte Online is one of the main portals for lottery services in Brazil, which has been growing year after year and has transferred more than out more than R$ 176 million (US$ 35m) in prizes. The company's success is a reflection of the increased consumption of lotteries through the digital channel, especially in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
To reach the top of the online lottery market, the company's investments in technology have been constant and one of the areas in which the company focuses is on creating pools with several options for the most varied types of players. And it is in this aspect that the work has guaranteed market recognition.
The development of tools from statistics and a lot of mathematics is the key point for the elaboration of the pools. “We use a lot of technology in the entire production process of our pools. The tools we have developed help us to use proven techniques to increase the chances of winning, such as splitting and closing,” explains Ricardo Hahne, commercial manager of Sorte Online.
According to him, through these resources it is possible to create pools with more dozens and that “can guarantee secondary prizes and also the multiplied win, which occurs when the same bet wins the same range several times, thus increasing the amount to be received,” he comments.
According to the portal’s manager, Sorte Online has other tools to increase gamblers' chances and at the same time allow the creation of combinations based on different variables. “It is possible, for example, to play a game with only numbers whose sum is between 50 and 100, use the most drawn numbers, choose only tens that are on the edges of the card or in a certain quadrant, or even balance odds and evens. There are different possibilities that expand the range of tactics we offer our players,” explains Hahne.
There is also an exclusive technique that Sorte Online uses to create special lottery pools. This is empirical analysis. “This strategy consists of analyzing all the lottery results and, based on that, we select a certain number of dozens and discover the most awarded combination throughout its history,” explains the company manager.
According to him, Sorte Online used this strategy in the last three ‘Lotofácil da Independência’ contests. “We created a special pool with 20 dozen from this analysis and won the main prize in two draws, which reinforces that our tactic is effective,” he comments.
“Even with so many technological resources helping Sorte Online to create more and more accurate and tactical combinations, we don't leave aside the random factor of the lottery. With this, we do not limit the universe of compositions of our bets and make available to bettors diversified pools and that, for sure, meet all profiles,” says Hahne.
Paying attention to social transfers
The commercial manager of Sorte Online reinforces the importance of lotteries in transferring resources from the activity to sectors of society. Hahne points out that in January and February of this year alone, R$ 562,079.01 (US$ 113,990) was transferred to the Brazilian Committee of Paralympic Clubs (CBCP).
"The transfer of lotteries to the CBCP helps to promote the work of Paralympic athletes in all corners of Brazil. We know that national sport still needs a lot of encouragement, especially in lesser-known modalities," explains Ricardo Hahne.
"Therefore, having monthly values in the hundreds of thousands of reais makes it possible for athletes to receive their salaries, for new equipment to be acquired, for trips to compete in competitions are made. In short, it is a cycle that contributes to moving the national Paralympic sport," he continues.
The amount is a percentage of lottery revenue. In February of this year, for example, Mega Sena alone obtained R$ 439,069,666.50 (US$ 89.05m). With that, it transferred R$ 307,348.77 (US$ 62,330) to the CBCP and another R$ 4,215,068.80 (US$ 855k) to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), a fundamental amount for the development of the sport.
According to Hahne, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a concern that the collection of lotteries would be too low and this could affect the entities that receive the transfers. “As a lot of people were quarantined or lived in places with heavy social restrictions, the amount of betting really went down,” he admits.
"The pandemic brought uncertainties and insecurities to all sectors of the market, and with the lottery niche it was no different. In the second quarter of 2020 - right at the beginning of the pandemic, when restrictions were greater - lottery collection had a decline of 29.35% in relation to the same period of the previous year," reveals Hahne.
But he explains that the possibility of playing the lottery over the Internet, as in Sorte Online, has contributed to the players continuing to have the chance to compete for prizes in their favorite contests, and with the security of betting without leaving home. "With that, in the two following quarters, the growth in collection was 10.20% and 13.90%, respectively. In total, there were more than R$ 17.1 billion (US$ 3.47bln) collected in 2020."
Even because of this, he informs that the possibility that the collection would decrease and affect the transfer to the institutions did not become reality. "On the contrary, the higher collection was reflected in a greater amount for the various bodies. In 2021, the collection hit a new record and soared to more than R$ 18.5 billion (US$ 3.75bln), an increase of 8.2%," he says.
This year, in the balance of the first two months, the collection of lotteries also showed growth. Overall, in January, R$1.28 billion (US$ 260m) was raised, while in February it was about R$1.3 billion (US$ 263bln). "The expectation is that this year the results will be even higher and the accumulated prizes make a lot of difference in this sense, as the volume of bets increases considerably in contests with large accumulation."
