Riot Games and Globo’s SporTV renew CBLOL broadcast deal until 2024

Riot Games has renewed its partnership with Globo for another three years to broadcast the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL) on the largest sports channel in Brazil. Starting today (Friday, 25th), SporTV will show the entire knockout phase (playoffs) of the competition until the Grand Final of the First Stage, on April 23rd.

The partnership between Riot Games and SporTV began in the 2017 CBLOL season, with the broadcast of 18 dates of the competition live. The channel aired the final of the tournament in 2016, held at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in addition to the final of the League of Legends World Cup in the same year, played at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, United States.

“At Riot Games, we are on a mission to bring the best of eSports to an increasingly diverse, engaged and passionate audience. The renewal of the partnership with SporTV takes place at a decisive moment, where players will return to the stages in our CBLOL Arena to bring the emotions of each confrontation,” celebrates Carlos Antunes, eSports leader at Riot Games in Brazil.

In addition to the broadcast on SporTV  the public will also be able to check out the CBLOL playoffs on the official Riot Games channels on YouTube, Twitch and NimoTV. The knockout phase starts on today (25th), at 1 pm, with the match between Netshoes Miners x Liberty.

The Brazilian League of Legends Championship took its first steps in 2012, shortly after the debut of the Brazilian server, in a three-day tournament. The first championship in the form of a league was held in 2014, with the precedent of two annual stages, or two splits, with playoffs and a Brazilian grand final.

Today, CBLOL is the pioneer league and one of the audience leaders in Brazil, reaching hundreds of thousands of people live on its internet and TV broadcasts. From 2021, the championship started to adopt the franchise model, with the presence of 10 renowned sports organizations, both in eSports and in traditional sports.

Riot Games was founded in 2006 to develop, publish and support games with a total focus on the player experience. In 2009, it released its debut title, League of Legends, to worldwide acclaim. League has gone on to be one of the most played PC games in the world and one of the main drivers of the explosive growth of eSports.

As League enters its second decade, Riot continues to evolve the game, offering new experiences to players with Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, VALORANT, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and several titles in the works.

Riot is also expanding the world of Runeterra through multimedia projects involving music, comics, board games and the Arcane animated series. Founded by Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill, and led by CEO Nicolo Laurent, Riot is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and has more than 2,500 rioters in over 20 offices worldwide.
