To reduce costs of public transport system

City Hall files bill that creates Porto Alegre Municipal Lottery

It was filed this Monday, 28, at the state’s City Council, the Executive Bill nº 009/22 which creates the public lottery service in Porto Alegre. In practice, the executive was authorized to explore the lottery activity, together with the State and Federal Executive Power. The objective is to increase revenue for the qualification and cost reduction of the public transport system.

Mayor Sebastião Melo recalls that, since the beginning of his administration, he has been looking for alternatives to reduce the value of the fare for passengers.

"With the support of the Legislature, we have taken all possible measures to minimize the impact on users. Our effort as a government is to define a fairer tariff and better service to the citizen," he emphasizes.

"You are following the difficulty we have in financing transport for those who need it most. If the new law is approved, all the resources will be used to pay the fare of those who are currently unable to afford the fare," he adds.

The project

Only a regularly constituted legal entity with headquarters and administration in the country can be accredited for the operation of lottery modalities. In addition, submit all legal documentation, have tax and labor, qualification and economic regularity and other requirements of the bidding process.

The city hall, through the Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism (SMDET), directly or through a partnership, concession or permission, will adopt security systems against tampering or contracting the tickets.
