To work in the gaming industry

CBF Academy eSports Management course focused on legal aspects, streaming and market

The Brazilian eSports market is already consolidated as the third in the world and continues to grow and attract the attention of the main world players, who see Brazil as one of the great potentials of the industry. This and numerous topics, such as streaming, legal aspects applied to electronic sports, were part of the curriculum of the Academy eSports Management course of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which ended on Saturday, 9.

The training, totally pioneering on the national scene, included outstanding professionals in the market, such as: Caco Antunes, head of eSports at Riot Games Brasil; Guilherme Vieira, partnerships manager at Nomad eSports; Pedro Oliveira, founding partner of Outfield Consulting and Outfield Capital; Bernardo Mendes, chief gaming officer at Druid; Ana Xisdê, presenter and creator of gamer content, and many others.

During almost six months, the CBF Academy eSports Management course, divided into 80 hours of live classes, students were prepared to act as managers in various modalities of electronic sports. In the field of extracurricular activities, the group also had lectures by influencers such as Wendel Lira and visits to studios such as Riot Games in São Paulo.

Among the 26 students were professionals and students from the most diverse areas, such as law, journalism, administration, economics, advertising and computing, all enthusiasts of the games market. Some were looking for insertion in this environment, others were already consolidated professionals in the electronic games department and a group was looking for a career transition.

There were even those who found a new job in the course. Gabriel Mello, an administrator from Rio de Janeiro, stood out in the group and ended up being hired by Netshoes Miners. “The eSports Management course, promoted by CBF Academy, added a lot to my knowledge and professional development, opening doors for me to work in a large organization in the scenario,” he said.

The topics covered were quite comprehensive, aiming to prepare the student to work on the most diverse fronts. Among the subjects studied were the notions, opportunities and challenges of the gamer and eSports industry; revenue streams in eSports; managing eSports teams; content, media, streaming and digital platforms; and the legal aspects applied to the eSports industry.

When it comes to eSports Management, the CBF Academy course is a pioneer in Brazil. “I think this type of course will be increasingly important because eSports is something that is here to stay, it's a reality. [...] It is very important because it takes very specific knowledge from people who have experience, who actually work in the market so they can talk about their day to day and bring really relevant content through their experience,” said Bruna Alvarenga , CEO of Sundae Concepts and course teacher.

The professional added: “It was a very cool experience, very rich. The class was very interested in knowing and I could see that they really wanted to absorb as much information as possible. Some already work in the market, but don't have 360° knowledge yet or had specific questions about some area and for those who don't work it's even more important to understand how the market works, how it is structuring, what are the areas that need to be studied and understood before entering it.”

The start of the next class of the course is scheduled for September 19 this year. Interested parties can register to be notified of the start of registration on the CBF Academy website.
