The monitoring of games is a practice adopted by the São Paulo Football Federation in an unprecedented way in Brazil since 2016, when it started work against the manipulation of games in contract with Sportradar. Since then, several suspected cases have been identified and referred to the Sports Court and to public authorities, which have already punished several involved.
During the next five years, Stats Perform, a leader in data and artificial intelligence technology, will use its experience in the segment to monitor and prevent cases of manipulation in competitions organized by the FPF. Among the monitored competitions are: Paulistão, Paulistão A2, Paulistão A3, Second Division Sub-23, Campeonato Paulista Sub-20, Paulistão Feminino, Copa Paulista and Copa São Paulo.
The measure is preventive to guarantee ethics and safety and to avoid any situation of result fraud coming from the international sports betting system.
"The monitoring of games is essential to prevent this practice harmful to football from being present in São Paulo. Since 2016, we have been monitoring it, which has generated a series of punishments for criminals. Together with Stats Perform, we will be even more attentive to possible cases manipulation, preserving the integrity of São Paulo competitions," says Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the FPF.
