Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “After consulting with our partners and the public, we have decided to move the SBC Awards ceremony to be held in conjunction with the SBC Summit Barcelona, with the aim of getting people to attend two events unmissable in a single trip.”
“The decision also allowed us to select an exceptionally memorable venue in Palau Nacional that will help us deliver a great night out for our 1,000 guests. With the ceremony coinciding with what will be our biggest ever Summit, with 6,000 delegates, Barcelona will become the center of the betting and gaming industry for a week,” he added.
Guests attending the 9th Annual SBC Awards can also expect some changes to the awards as the 45 recognitions to be handed out on the night include seven all-new categories.
These new categories include: 'Socially Responsible Operator of the Year', 'Best Socially Responsible Provider' and 'Cryptocurrency Gaming Operator of the Year', along with regional awards for 'Sportsbook of the Year' from Northern, Southern, Eastern Europe and West.
Applications for the 15 operator, 21 provider, three affiliate, four payment and two industry-wide categories are open until June 3, when independent judging panels will begin work on the selection.
There are categories for companies ranging from major international brands to new market entrants. The 2021 winners include bet365, Betradar, Betsson Group, Better Collective, Evolution, Genius Sports, Glitnor Group, Pragmatic Play, Pronet Gaming, Sports IQ, Trustly and Virgin Bet.
“We had a record number of nominations in 2021, but we expect to exceed the total this year as companies around the world recognize that winning or even being a finalist for an SBC award is accepted across the industry as a true hallmark of quality,” Soymark added.

The SBC Summit Barcelona 2022 will take place at 'Fira Barcelona Montjuïc' from 20-22 September, with 6,000 delegates enjoying a 12-session conference covering all aspects of the international sports betting and online casino industries, an exhibition featuring 200 companies showcasing their latest innovations and a program of spectacular networking events.
