Deputies Passos and Cardoso defend gaming legalization in ‘March of the Municipalities’ panel

The 23rd March to Brasília in Defense of Municipalities, which takes place this week in Brasília, had the panel “National Congress”, in which several subjects were discussed, including the legalization of gaming in Brazil. Received by the president of the National Confederation of Municipalities, Paulo Ziulkoski, federal deputies Herculano Passos and Newton Cardoso Jr. spoke in favor of the activity to boost Brazil's economy and leverage the municipalities.

This week, Brasília was the stage for a congress focused on municipalities, with the participation of more than seven thousand municipal managers, authorities from the three powers of the Republic and technicians from government areas.

Although part of the event was dedicated to political discussions and presidential succession (including the opening of the event with the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro, candidate for reelection), the need to support municipalities and regional development was on the agenda.

The panels of the 23rd March to Brasília in Defense of Municipalities discussed various topics, such as housing, tourism, sanitation, urban planning, tax reform and other matters of regional interest.

During the “National Congress” panel that took place this Thursday (28) at the event, federal deputies Herculano Passos (Republicamos-SP) and Newton Cardoso Jr. (MDB-MG) defended the legalization of gaming as a way to contribute to the economic recovery throughout the country and guarantee regional development.

On the panel, both defended the approval of Bill 442/1991 as a way to increase municipal revenue. For deputy Herculano Passos, "it is very important to approve the matter because within this text a percentage of 16% is foreseen for the FPM and FPE. This will represent 0.5% of the FPM," he explained.

Defending that the measure will also increase Brazilian tourism, deputy Newton Cardoso Jr. reinforced that he will act for amendments in the gaming Bill. “We need to diversify the collection opportunities for municipalities and see tourism opportunities. The legalization of the gaming sector will be a great source of revenue,” he highlighted.
