Palmeiras and Betfair announced on Saturday (14) the two-year sponsorship agreement for the ‘Verdão’ women's football team. The partnership was widely publicized in the media and on Saturday GMB highlighted the agreement as historic for the Sao Paulo club.
The contract provides for exposure of the brand in the master property of the ‘Verdão’ women's football team uniform and insertion in all exclusive official digital content.
This Monday (16) afternoon, as a way of expanding Betfair's approach to the club, Kimberley Daly paid an official visit to the president of Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, who presented her with the new jersey of the club's women's team, already with the bookmaker's noblest place in uniform.
Kimberley was accompanied by Rivaldo, Betfair ambassador and Palmeiras idol, who took the opportunity to visit the male squad while the Betfair marketing director's meeting with the Palmeiras president took place.
The meeting between Leila and Kimberley, posted on the Palmeiras president's instagram, already has more than 61,000 likes and more than 700 comments in which followers highlight and celebrate that it was two women who presented the agreement between the club and the bookmaker. It is worth mentioning that Leila is the first woman to preside over Palmeiras and the only woman to preside over a football team to win an international title in South America, the Recopa Sudamericana.
The director of the Sao Paulo team is a lawyer and businesswoman. Currently, she is one of the most powerful and prestigious women in Brazilian football.
Kimberley Daly, director of marketing at Betfair, praised the deal. “We are very happy to establish this partnership with Palmeiras. Alongside the club, Betfair's role is to help create opportunities and invest in women in the sport, as well as continue investing in the laudable project of the men's team with its recent achievements that brought joy to the ‘alviverde’ fan. Last but not least, Betfair puts fans of the sport at the top of everything we do and this is very much in line with the values of the Palmeiras Family. We are very excited to be a part of the Alviverde Family as well,” she said.
The agreement, which is among the largest in terms of women's football in Brazil, also comprises an unprecedented and pioneering delivery of digital items on all the club's platforms, promoting more entertainment to fans over 18 years of age through sports betting, whether they are in the stadium or at home.
Kimberley has been with Betfair since 2010 and her growth has led to her taking on her current role as the company's chief marketing officer two years ago. On a visit to Brazil, she took the opportunity to participate in the signing of the contract with Palmeiras.
The approximation of the two, of course, is generating some speculation as to a possible sponsorship of the men's team, the only one in the Brasileirão Serie A that still doesn't feature a bookmaker as a sponsor. Neither party confirms that talks in this regard are taking place.
