Gaules, former Brazilian Counter-Strike player, youtuber and the biggest streamer in Brazil in the eSports segment, named by ESPN as “the biggest phenomenon of Brazilian Twich”, has just added another record to his career. During the third and decisive map of the match between Imperial and Cloud9 for the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, he reached 710 thousand simultaneous viewers and surpassed the record of youtuber Felipe Neto, which was 600 thousand.
Twice in his career, Gaules was elected Best Streamer of the Year at the eSports Brasil Award. And now, once again, he puts his stamp and prestige on the broadcasts of the PGL Major Antwerp, the most important CS:GO World Tournament of 2022, with a total prize pool of US$1 million.
During the first map, he had already hit the mark of 570 thousand viewers, surpassing the record of Casimiro on Brazilian Twitch. The carioca (born in Rio de Janeiro) had reached the mark of 545,000 when he broadcast firsthand the first episode of ‘O Caos Perfeito’, a Netflix series that follows Neymar’s career.
“If nowadays it is difficult to explain what that is, imagine for us back in 1999 when this game started and we had already decided that we were going to live this forever. So I'm very happy. Because it's not for me, it's for these seeds. How many young people will earn something in a few years, because of that day they had today. So that's what makes what we do special,” said Gau.
At the global level, the record goes with David “TheGrefg”, a Spaniard who surpassed 2.4 million simultaneous viewers when broadcasting the reveal of his skin in Fortnite.
