Delmasso explains that it is customary for districts linked to the evangelical public to be against the creation of any type of gambling. “It is our tradition. We defend the family and we understand that gambling directly harms the family, putting the family member in debt,” he points out.
Observing the movement in the National Congress, the deputy says he was afraid that the bill would set a precedent for the creation of casinos and the reopening of bingo houses in the DF. “We gathered the bench and presented an amendment to this project. Prohibits the extension of the district lottery to other types of gambling. It’s a precaution,” he warns.
This amendment, says Delmasso, is non-negotiable. “The evangelical bench votes on the project as long as the amendment is approved. If not, we won't be able to vote with the government. But I talked to the governor and he is sensitive and supportive,” he highlights.
