New president of Tourism Committee in Brazil’s Chamber defends gaming legalization

Rodrigo Coelho (Pode-SC), who took office yesterday (5) as the new president of the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, defends the legalization of the gaming sector in Brazil to attract more international visitors to the country. He replaces Bacelar in the position and believes that the installation of casinos in resorts is one more tool for the sector to take off and become an additional attraction for the arrival of tourists.

The new president of the Tourism Commission, Deputy Rodrigo Coelho (Pode-SC) defends the inclusion of the sector among the segments benefited by the exemption from the payroll, that is, the possibility of collecting a percentage of the gross revenue of the companies instead of 20 % of the payroll as a basis for social security collection.

The parliamentarian recalls that the tourism area was, alongside culture, one of the first sectors of the economy to paralyze its activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coelho also points out that it is necessary to qualify professionals who work in tourism, especially so that they can communicate in English with foreign visitors.

He adds that another measure that could attract more international visitors to Brazil is the legalization of the gaming sector, with the possibility of installing casinos in resorts in the country.

Deputy Rodrigo Coelho was elected president of the Tourism Committee of the Chamber of Deputies this week to replace Deputy Bacelar (PV-BA). Another three members of Podemos will complete the Board of the collegiate this year: Ricardo Teobaldo (PE) in the 1st vice presidency, Igor Timo (MG) in the 2nd and Raimundo Costa (BA) in the 3rd.
