Betfair adds Brazilian Gustavo Silva as Marketing Executive for the local market

With more than five years of experience in Communications and Marketing, Brazilian Gustavo Silva was hired by Betfair, one of the largest providers of online sports betting in the world, to occupy the role of Marketing Executive for Brazil. Silva, who was born in Curitiba and moved to Dublin (Ireland) in 2014, joins the firm from Accenture. Reporting to the LatAm Marketing Manager, he will be responsible for the delivery of brand’s Brazilian marketing campaigns, among other duties.

Silva will work closely with the Senior Marketing Executive and he will use his organisational skills and eye for detail to deliver first class end-to-end execution of Betfair’s marketing assets across all channels becoming a brand guardian for Brazil. He’ll also work closely with Betfair local media planning and creative agency to be an expert on the Brazilian media and competitor landscapes, including local TV, radio, and digital media channels.

Brazil is a rapidly growing market, and a region of key strategic importance for the Betfair brand. Company hired a Marketing Exec to deliver against their ambition to become the betting destination of choice for Brazilian sports bettors.

Betfair is one of the largest online sports betting providers in the world, and official sponsor of CONMEBOL Libertadores, Sudamericana and Qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

In Brazil, the company takes several actions. The brand has just signed the renewal of its contract with Cartola, the most played fantasy football game in Brazil, from giant media firm Globo. At the beginning of the year, it signed with Cariocão (Rio de Janeiro state tournament) the biggest contract of naming rights for regional competitions in the country. In addition, Betfair has as one of its main ambassadors Rivaldo, who weekly writes an opinion column on various current topics for the brand's website, with great repercussion in local and international media.

With a market leading product, world class advertising campaigns and outstanding assets like its official sponsorship of the Copa Libertadores and Carioca tournament in Rio de Janeiro, this is a fantastic opportunity for Silva to take on their next career challenge and drive the rapid growth trajectory of Betfair’s International business.

In Brazil, Silva obtained a B.A. in Communication Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Curitiba, and he worked at Gemalto (now Thales Digital Identity & Security) on Internal Communications for 3 years. Then he moved to Teletex IT Solutions as Marketing and Communications Executive to work with Social Media, Immersive Marketing and Brand Experience Events, and Internal Communications and PR routine.

The executive left Brazil in 2014 and moved to Ireland in order to improve his language skills and expand his career internationally. There he had the opportunity to learn and develop new skills and to work in different areas, always focusing on people and delivering good results.

Silva has a Masters in Organisational Communications (Lusófona University, Lisbon – Portugal) and he is studying to obtain a Certificate in Digital Sales Transformation (Griffith College, Dublin).
