This Sunday (June 12), Vasco entered the pitch to measure forces with Cruzeiro. The duel, valid for the 12th round of the B series of the Brazilian Championship, was played at the Maracanã stadium. The Vasco fans made a lot of celebration on the team's return to the stadium and sold out all tickets. There were 63,609 people present.
Before the ball rolls, disagreement. In an open letter, Vasco complained about some measures adopted by the managers of Maracanã, now on hands of Flamengo and Fluminense.
Vasco representatives said that there was an increase in rent (R$ 250,000 plus a fee of R$ 130,000 for reimbursement of costs, such as water and energy), retention of revenue from bars and a ban on the placement of a banner. In orde to avoid the veto, sportsbook Pixbet, the club's sponsor, displayed the message on the advertising board.
In addition to the action, Vasco fans also mobilized to carry the message in the stadium. On the outskirts of Maracanã, it was possible to perceive the presence of fans with the words that the concessionaire vetoed.
“We demand, finally, respect for the history of Vasco da Gama and the rules in force for the use of the stadium. Unfortunately, Vasco da Gama finds a treatment parallel to that received at the beginning of the last century. They change the rules but they won't stop our club from exercising its usual greatness,” said the club's board.
PixBet has been a sponsor of Vasco since October 2021, with a partnership valid until December 2022. But the curious thing is that the bookmaker is also a sponsor of Flamengo. The agreement between Fla and PixBet is valid for two years, renewable or not. Regarding the values, the total amount is R$ 48 million, divided into four installments. Over the space on the jersey, the PixBet logo is displayed in the region of the shoulder blade.
