Zeus Sports Marketing adds Roberto Trinas as new director for Brazil

The former Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Palmeiras, Robert Trinas, became country director for the Brazilian market of Zeus Sports Marketing (ZSM) with the aim of expanding the company's sports business portfolio in the country and LatAm. Together with Stats Perform, ZSM hold the international betting data and streaming rights to the Serie A and B of the Brasileirão Championship until the end of 2023, as well as several state tournaments.

“We predict an extremely bright future for the football industry in Brazil and I’m proud to be appointed as ZSM’s country director. Over the past three years, ZSM has acquired significant assets, becoming an important partner in Brazilian football. Given ZSM’s strong global network, I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with clubs, ZSM’s agency partners and other key stakeholders to further expand their business for the benefit of the Brazilian football as well as other sports properties in the region,” commented Trinas to Sport Business.

ZSM chief executive, Nick Haigh, added: “Roberto will be an asset for ZSM with the years of experience he brings from both a commercial and marketing perspective. We are confident he will successfully help lead our Brazilian operation into ZSM’s next phase of growth and strategic development.”

ZSM and Stats Perform also hold the betting data and streaming rights to the country’s Paulista, Gaucho and Paranaense State Championships, as well as the regional cup, Copa do Nordeste. In addition to this, the agency procures sponsorship for brands and advises entities looking to invest in clubs and leagues.

Trinas led the marketing department at Palmeiras FC between 2016 and 2021 where he is claimed to have contributed to a significant uptick in revenues for the multiple champions. During his time there, he represented the team on technical committees comprising Brasileirão Série A and B clubs, including the group created to manage the commercialization of the clubs’ international broadcasting, betting data and streaming rights.

AT ZSM he will be responsible for working closely with the Brazilian clubs, sports entities and football stakeholders to grow the value of their media and sponsorship rights, as well as looking to increase the value of their betting data and streaming rights.

The agency is led by its two founders - Nick Haigh and Josh Burack - who bring over 55 years of experience across the spectrum of sports marketing, having held management positions at some of the industry's leading companies, working on several of the world's most prestigious sporting events and has grown into an international company.
