The panel, mediated by Danilo Pereira, creator of Bet Masters Sportsbet.io, took the topic of sports betting regulation and affiliation to almost 500 people, bringing together operators, influencers and professional bettors. Angelo Alberoni, country manager Brazil at Betsson; Rodrigo Loco, president of the Brazilian Association of Sports Betting and head of content at Eightroom; and Nettuno, a well-known tipster in the sector, with more than 230 thousand followers on his social networks, debated the regulation.
For Angelo Alberoni, the meeting was very important as it brought together the entire sports betting ecosystem, bringing professional bettors into the debate. “Operators need to get closer to bettors, tipsters and influencers as they are an important part of our industry. The professionalization of the activity has been a registered trademark in the segment and Brazil will continue to grow with your work,” he highlighted.
Rodrigo Loco reinforced the importance of the bettor within the sector and commented that the industry as a whole has an obligation to create a lot of content to offer bettors the certainty that sports betting is an engine for the growth of the industry. “We know that it is very difficult to create content for the work of bettors, but it is the operators' obligation to offer knowledge,” he added.
Nettuno, on the other hand, does not believe in a quick regulation of the sector. For him, it will not come out in a short space, but he pointed out that if it is not good for bettors, professionals will find ways to circumvent the regulation. “It's a gray market, a jungle, without law. It's allowed, but it's not legal, no rules. If bad regulation comes out for the gambler, we will have to circumvent it in VPN ways or cross the border, because it will be difficult to continue operating from here. But I believe it will remain the way it is for a long, long time.”
Danilo Pereira, creator of Bet Masters Sportsbet.io, defended the regulation as “an extra certainty for bettors that they are working in an economic activity that generates taxes, jobs and wealth for the whole of society.” But for him, it is an issue to be discussed at length so that Brazil can reach adequate regulation that meets the entire chain of the sports betting segment, as he does not believe that it will come in a short time.
Regarding affiliation, Alberoni commented that it is a very strong driver of the sector and that it is very important for the market. “Players must listen to affiliates and they must continue to work to teach punters everything they can so that the market continues to grow in a sustained manner.”
He also highlighted that a major challenge for operators is “having and transmitting credibility, working very closely with the end customer and supporting affiliates and influencers so that the industry continues to grow.”
Finally, he said that “working with betting is very important and a challenging market. What you do as affiliates and influencers is critical to strengthening the activity and ensuring a successful corporate future for all of you.”
When highlighting the regulation of sports betting, Rodrigo Loco said he believes that it will only happen after the election. Alberoni added that “all players anxiously await the regulation so that they can operate with legal certainty. The four-year period since legalization is ending and it's time for it to happen. The market has already assimilated the activity well and the technicians from the Ministry of Economy have already understood the dynamics of our industry very well,” he concluded.
