“EstrelaBet is everything we need and want in Magnus Futsal”

Former futsal player and CEO of Magnus Futsal, Fellipe Drommond spoke to GMB about sponsorship of bookmaker EstrelaBet and the importance of “having a partner that activates and moves our fan base.” For him, this makes a difference and all that is needed is “the regulation of the sector so that the final consumer has the necessary understanding of the activity.”

EstrelaBet has been standing out in the Brazilian sports betting market as one of the main players in the sector and for its strong support for the sport. Among the entities sponsored by the house is Magnus Futsal, which has stamped EstrelaBet brand on the game's shorts since the beginning of April.

The dog and cat food company Magnus has been the master sponsor of the Sorocaba team since the 2016 season, the year in which the futsal name from Sorocaba won the main title in the category, the Club World Cup held in Doha, Qatar.

Fellipe Drommond, CEO of the club, spoke with GMB about the new moment of Magnus Futsal with the arrival of EstrelaBet.

GMB - How has EstrelaBet been supporting Magnus Futsal?

– The partnership with EstrelaBet has been a wonderful partnership. It is a company that is growing and is already the number 1 in Brazil in sports betting houses. It is constantly activating and moving our fan base and this engagement has repercussions for the brand and brings an extremely important loyalty for us as a club. What has changed for Magnus with the arrival of EstrelaBet?
The fact that the sports betting market has a very direct relationship with the digital world and Magnus Futsal is one of the biggest futsal platforms on the planet, with a huge crowd of fans, and we have brought in a partner that directly activates this digital base, while Magnus, our main sponsor, works directly in B2C at the point of sale. When we bring in a partner whose communication and business is 100% digital, we will have specific content so that our base can actively communicate with them. So this is the main differentiator. We have a digital product for our fans to consume directly. This exchange ends up building a larger fan base at the same time that there is greater consumption for EstrelaBet. It is a double way path.

And did you expect this change?
We always hope for the best, but it is difficult to find a partner in the market with this awareness of activating sponsorship. It was a positive surprise the engagement and the team that EstrelaBet has prepared to activate this product.

Brazil is still without the regulation of sports betting. Does that bother you, as sponsored?
I think it gets in the way. The non-legalization of sports betting makes understanding the end consumer more difficult. For us, who are in the market, it is easier to understand the flowchart of this, but the final consumer is not. He is often suspicious of whether he can play or not. This implies the performance that we will deliver to the sponsor. Sometimes we are not able to perform as great as we should because of the difficulty of understanding the consumer who is at the base. We still have a small number of people betting and enjoying the platform because they don't understand the platform.

Do you seek this fan engagement for the bookmaker?
Yes, it's essential. We have both our games, which form the offline, with simple actions, such as the QR code in the stadium where the customer registers and gets a discount or bonuses from EstrelaBet. This is a two-way street, so there are also other activations through choosing the best player in the match, for example, which can generate the odds for the next match.
