‘Favelas Cup’ returns after two years sponsored by Betnacional

In the year that the ‘Taça das Favelas’ (Favelas Cup) celebrates 10 years, the dispute returns even stronger and wider, with competitions held throughout Brazil. Believing that sport is a way to support young people from underserved regions, Betnacional sponsors event's 2022 edition. For the company, the association with organizer ‘Central Única das Favelas, aims to reinforce the spirit of the championship, which is to positively influence thousands of children and young people from communities across Brazil.

“Betnacional works to stimulate sport throughout Brazil and we saw in the ‘Taça das Favelas’ a great opportunity to amplify our objective,” says Newton de Oliveira Neto, CMO of NSX Sportsbetting Ecosystem, Betnacional's platform.

Betnacional is also sponsor of the TV broadcast of the finals of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Commercials by the brand's ambassador, Vini Jr., ace for Real Madrid and Brazil’s national team, will be shown in the broadcasts.

“Vini Jr. is a great example for a multitude of boys who dream of a career as a football player. We are convinced that his image is an inspiration for many children and young people,” highlights Oliveira Neto.

In Rio, the ball will roll on July 30th and 31st, at Campo do Realengo, a place that is undergoing works to become the ‘Taça das Favelas Realengo Sports Center’. The Rio version of the tournament will be contested by 107 teams from favelas (Brazilian shack or shanty town), with 28 women's and 79 men's. There is no age limit for women. For boys, young people aged between 14 and 17 are allowed.

The 2022 São Paulo Favelas Cup will be contested between 128 teams, 32 female and 96 male. Games start on July 30th at Vila Manchester, and the grand finals will be on October 8th.

Favelão, the national stage of the tournament, will have teams from the 22 participating states and will take place between October and November.

The ‘Taça das Favelas’ is organized by the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA), chaired by Celso Athayde.
