“Legalization would bring a new level to tourism and Espírito Santo has the potential to receive casinos. There's nothing better than setting up a new frontier, a new shelf of tourism in terms of jobs. The installation of a casino, for example, could create approximately 1,500 new direct jobs, and 4,000 throughout the chain,” explains Neus.
In addition to generating jobs, the growth of tourism in the state would also be another benefit of legalizing gambling in Brazil, says Nerleo Caus: “It is an activity that generates a large tourist flow. People come from far and wide to play. A movement is created, and in addition to betting, tourists get to know the region where they are staying.”
“When I say casino, I mean the entire project of an integrated casino, with art and leisure, shows, galleries, gastronomy and recreational options that generate attractiveness, including gambling itself. A casino in any region of the state would stimulate tourism in the region,” says Caus.
The project was approved in the Chamber of Deputies last week, with 246 votes in favor and 202 against, now it must go to the Federal Senate, and then to the president of the republic.
If approved, the Bill specifies a series of rules. Casinos will be able to explore card games, roulette games, electronic machines, and can be installed in resorts and hotels.
Brazil, according to a survey carried out by Instituto Jogo Legal, is the largest exporter of casino players in the world, with approximately 200,000 people traveling abroad each year in search of these activities.
It is worth remembering that the online betting market uses artifices to circumvent this restriction, as long as they are headquartered in other countries where the activity is duly legalized.
