Pixbet signs deal with Globo TV to sponsor broadcasts of Qatar 2022 on open TV

Less than 100 days before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, Brazilian media giant Globo has already secured six sponsors for the broadcast of games on open TV. The group is the sole owner of the rights to broadcast the event on open TV, pay TV and streaming. After BRF, the sixth sponsor to join Globo is sports betting platform Pixbet, which already invests in Brazilian football as a sponsor of the clubs Flamengo, Santos, Juventude, Avaí, Goiás and América-MG.

A few days ago, BRF, owner of the Sadia and Perdigão brands, signed an agreement with Globo's commercial department to participate in broadcasts and all shows involving the World Cup theme on open TV and also on SporTV.

After BRF, the sixth sponsor to join Globo is sports betting platform Pixbet, which already invests in Brazilian football as a sponsor of the clubs Flamengo, Santos, Juventude, Avaí, Goiás and América-MG.

The company will be the first bookmaker to partner with a World Cup broadcast in Brazil on open TV. “Being at the World Cup is a giant step for Pixbet. We are very proud to have reached this level,” says Ernildo Santos, founder of Pixbet. According to the company, its exhibition on Globo's vignettes will start on next August 22nd.

With Pixbet, they are now two the bookmakers within the Grupo Globo broadcasting package in the Wordl Cup. On closed TV, Betfair had already been confirmed by the broadcaster alongside Ambev, Claro, Samsung and Nubank.

World Cup sponsors

Pixbet and BRF join Ambev, Claro, Itaú, and Magalu, which also acquired World Cup sponsorship quotas. The brands Ambev, Claro, Itaú and Magalu are already appearing in the headlines and vignettes of the programming that address the World Cup.

From this group of sponsors, Ambev, Claro, Magalu, and BRF also sponsor the World Cup broadcasts on SporTV, which will have a special schedule to follow all the events in Qatar. In pay TV, along with these brands, Samsung and Betfair are also sponsors.

Globo did not disclose the total amount of sponsorship quotas offered to the advertising market for the Qatar World Cup. Generally, the group usually works with the number of six sponsors for open TV. At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the firms that sponsored the broadcats were Ambev (Brahma), BRF, Coca-Cola, Itaú, Johnson & Johnson and Vivo.

At the time, in 2018, Globo charged BRL 180 million (US$ 35.5m) for each of the sponsorship quotas for the Cup. It is estimated that the amount charged for Qatar World Cup is equivalent to or slightly higher than in Russia. Globo does not comment on the values of its commercial plans.
