Senator Alcolumbre confirms approval of Brazil’s gambling sector by December

Davi Alcolumbre (UB-AP), former President of Brazilia Senate and rapporteur of Bill 442/91 in the House, hopes to approve gambling, President Bolsonaro - to please evangelicals - to veto and Congress to enact, according to information that publishes today (18) journalist Leandro Mazzini in his Coluna Esplanada. For him, everything is already agreed and the legalization of the gambling sector in Brazil will happen soon after the elections.

After blocking the process of the bill that releases bingos and casinos for months, after approval in the Chamber of Deputies, Senator Davi Alcolumbre (UB-AP) will release the proposal on the agenda after presidential election.

The measure includes casinos, bingos, jogo do bicho and online gambling, among other modalities.

The gambling lobby's plan is to aprove the project in the Senate by December, before the parliamentary recess. President Bolsonaro vetoes it – he doesn’t want to get in trouble with evangelicals – but Congress then overturns it.

It is worth remembering that Deputies Chamber approved Bill 442/1991 on February 24 this year. According to the text sent to the Senate, the operation of games of chance in various modalities will depend on licenses, which may be granted on a permanent basis or for a determined period.
