Febralot meeting with Caixa executives

Retail network asks for release of sale of state lotteries in Brazil

The Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (Febralot) met with leaders from state lottery unions and new Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) executives to address entity's demands and to welcome CEF's new VP of Network, Júlio Volpp. The new director says he intends to work for the sustainability of the retail network in a joint work with other areas to seek new agreements. Among the requests, the sale of state lottery products stands out.

Febralot promoted a meeting last Thursday (28) between the leaders of the state lottery unions with new executives from Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) involved with the activity in order to welcome the new VP de Rede, Júlio Volpp, and to update the new CEF team regarding the entity's demands.

On behalf of CEF, in addition to Volpp, attended Thays Cintra, VP of Retail Product, Edilson Carrogi, VP of Funds and Lotteries, Cláudio Salituro, VP of Information Technology, José P. S. Neto, National Superintendent Channel Partners, and Rodrigo Hideki, National Lottery Superintendent. The president Jodismar Amaro and the presidents of the state unions represented Febralot.

In his opening words, Júlio Volpp introduced himself and said that he has a lot of knowledge about lotteries, having worked in his recent roles in the areas of interaction with the lottery network. He said that from the update he is doing with his team and from the new way of managing the Network with the participation of the VPs of related areas and the contact he had with Febralot, through its president Jodismar Amaro, intends to work for the sustainability of the Network through joint work with the other areas, always seeking to include new agreements with the Lottery Network and synergy with the agencies.

The executive stated that he was very impressed with the interest of the Lotteries and the strong presence of the presidents of the state unions. He took the opportunity to justify that the exchange of three VPs and the president of Caixa was the reason for the delay in the process of annual readjustment of fees for non-gaming and additional services, but that it will be done in 15 days.

Another point much discussed by those present was the sustainability of the Network. The pandemic has accelerated the process of digitizing customers and the chain needs new products and services, as stores have been empty for more than 70% of the month. Short- and medium-term actions were requested from Caixa so that the Network can again have an influx of customers throughout the month.

Among the various ideas presented to the new executives of the CEF, is the release for sale of State Lotteries at the lottery counter, with an emphasis on those already in progress and the fight against sites that offer bets. Another claim was the return of the Instant Lottery and the directing of Lotex to the lottery network.

All demands will be analyzed by Caixa and the actions to be taken for each one of them will be presented.
