Online bookmaker and casino Blaze is 11th worst firm in Brazil in ‘Reclame Aqui’ ranking

The number of complaints from Blaze online casino increases more and more on the Brazilian consumer protection platform ‘Reclame Aqui’. In the last few days, it exceeded the mark of 10 thousand complaints. That number puts Blaze in 11th place — out of 20 — of the worst companies in the last 30 days, according to data from the platform.

Many of the complaints are about problems with withdrawals and deposits made via Pix, such as a gambler who won R$17,000 and claims he had his “account closed” after asking for a withdrawal.

The ratings given to Blaze in the ‘Reclame Aqui’ show a “bad” rate of customer satisfaction. In just 24 hours, 45 complaints were filed against the foreign casino. In the last six months, the sum of complaints is 10,877, with 9,822 feedbacks from the support team, as of Monday afternoon (August 1st).

In 2020 and 2021, Blaze's scores on ‘Reclame Aqui’ were 3.7 and 3.7; in 2022, it dropped to 3.4. The company's current score is 5.0, which is considered "bad" in the platform's calculation.

Other data shows that the current rate of resolution of the problems pointed out by Blaze customers is 46.7% and that only 35.9% said they would return to the platform.

Blaze on ‘Reclame Aqui’

Among the latest complaints, a customer from Poá (SP) said he won R$ 17,000 in sports betting, but had his “account closed” after asking for a withdrawal, according to him, even though he sent a copy of his documents. Until the publication of this article, the customer did not receive any answer.

Another customer, from Feira de Santana (BA), asks for an “urgent solution” after Blaze does not meet the deadline: “I requested a withdrawal of BRL 1,000.00 via Pix on 07/25/2022”, he wrote this Monday (1).

“Yesterday I deposited an amount in the Blaze app, and after a few hours I wanted to withdraw it, but I have already made the request 5 times and the amount always goes back to the Blaze account balance, I cannot in any way withdraw this amount via Pix,” also said last Monday (1) a customer from Extrema (MG).

A Botafogo sponsor

The mark of more than ten thousand complaints in ‘Reclame Aqui’, however, did not prevent the Botafogo football club from announcing that Blaze would be the main sponsor of the team until the end of the 2022 season. The values of the sponsorship deal were not revealed.

How to sue Blaze

Blaze customers who feel aggrieved have encountered a problem when trying to seek their rights, as the company has no clear official representation in Brazil. There are, however, at least two ways to claim financial reparations.

As the company is formally headquartered in Curaçao, a small country in the Caribbean, one of the solutions is for the client to send a letter rogatory to the justice system of the country where the company is headquartered. The other, to blame a partner company that makes the foreign company's operation within Brazil viable.

In the case of letters rogatory, the process is slow, expensive and generally does not pay off financially in cases of smaller amounts. In the second case, partner companies can be part of a process – Blaze allows the use of the Pix system as payments, therefore, there are companies approved by the Central Bank that facilitate gambling.

However, professionals are also divided on whether or not these companies could be sued.
