26 options for those who want to make guesses

KTO.com launches betting markets linked to Brazil’s general elections

KTO.com launches this Friday (23) a special area on its website to bet on the first round of the general elections that takes place in Brazil on October 2nd. The proposal is to debut in the country a practice that is already common in territories like the United States and England, where it is possible to guess about major events beyond sports. In an unprecedented way in Brazil, the platform offers 26 options for those who want to make guesses about the possible results.

On the website, Brazilians will have the opportunity to register their guesses for the possible results of the electoral dispute. For example: will the presidential election be defined in the first round? How many women will be elected to the Federal Chamber? In all, there will be 26 “markets” like these for those who want to test their knowledge and predictions.

Punters can still suggest new questions on the official KTO.com channels. The condition is that they reflect the results of the first round, considering only valid votes with 100% of the ballot boxes counted by the Superior Electoral Court.

The initial “odds” represent the probability and prizes associated with each outcome, and are calculated by the KTO team of bookmakers from data from the last five presidential general elections, weighted with poll averages and other statistical variables linked to the profile of Brazilian voters.

In addition, they are updated according to the volume of bets on each possible outcome – in a supply and demand logic that expresses the expectations of the total bettors.

According to the CEO of KTO.com, Andreas Bardun, the novelty meets a demand from Brazilian customers for a type of bet that is already quite popular abroad. “This move consolidates KTO.com's position as the betting operator most attuned to the reality of the local market,” explains Bardun.

Graduated in Political Science and one of the pioneers in the calculation of electoral odds in the European market since the early 2000s, Bardun explains that betting also reflects aspects of the behavior of voters.

"It is a way of understanding what the expectations of these people are. At the same time, it is our contribution to making the election more engaging for all those who follow this great democratic event," concludes the executive.
