GMB - With what expectations do you present this edition of G2E? What improvements or innovations can we find in relation to 2021?
Korbi Carrison - We are thrilled to be fully back in-person for G2E this year, a welcome change from the hybrid or remote shows of the last two years! From conversations with exhibitors, media and our attendees, the industry’s excitement is palpable as people gear up to be on the show floor in just a few short weeks. This year's show will bring attendees back to 2019, with all the in-person networking, education sessions and exhibitor displays our attendees are familiar with.
How many visitors do you expect and how many companies will be participating with stands? Will there be full capacity this year after a return to normal activity after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis?
This year’s show will feel like pre-pandemic shows. With COVID restrictions removed and more open international travel policies in place, we expect to see a much larger audience than we saw in 2021. Our registration numbers have been strong, and with over 300 companies participating in the show, the expo floor will be bustling with activity throughout the week.
How do you measure and evaluate the participation of companies from the Latin American market in the event? Is it bigger in each edition through the years?
We are always excited to have attendees from the Latin American market participate in G2E. With travel restrictions lifted, we expect to have a strong showing of international attendees, including those from Latin America, as the global presence of G2E grows more extensive each year.
And what about Brazil specifically? As you may know, the country is in the process of regulating the sports betting market and a possible opening of the gaming sector in general. Did that generate a greater interest in relation to visitors and exhibitors?
While I can’t say for certain, I know many in Brazil are excited about the possibility of legalized sports betting and casino gaming, so it would be no surprise if possible legalizations have been driving the increased interest and attendance in the show.
Online gambling grow, and in this context sports betting in the United States is going through an impressive boom with the activity already regulated in several states or others in process of being so. Is that market the one that prevails in the 2022 edition of G2E?
Online gaming is a very important sector, especially during and after the pandemic. We’ve really seen the online gaming landscape develop, not just with sports betting, but with all kinds of mobile gaming opportunities. You can expect many discussions and education sessions centered on online gaming and its intersection with sports betting at G2E this year.
Which new technologies or trends for the industry do you think will be more important or unveiled at G2E this year?
The hottest topics of the moment are sports betting, mobile gaming, digital payments and the future of the casino floor, but there is always more to learn about at G2E. I don’t want to spoil any surprises or show activity, but attendees should expect to see education sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitor product debuts relating to these sectors.
For Brazilian operators or those who work in the local market, visiting G2E is almost an obligation to be up to date on the global industry?
G2E is certainly a premier opportunity to get your finger on the pulse on the gaming world and find out what’s next for the industry.
Within the agenda of the G2E conferences, is there one dedicated to the growth of the market in Latin America and, especially, to Brazil?
We have several education tracks, one of which is centered on the development of global markets, including those in Latin America. Throughout the week, there will opportunities for attendees to listen in on panels and participate in discussions that will give everyone at the show an inside look into the future of gaming.
