This season, half of LaLiga teams have sponsorship deals with betting companies outside Spain to circumvent a ban on brand exposure. Betis, for example, announced a partnership with Rojabet for Latin America.
“The club reinforces its position and interest in the Latin American market, which it has always highlighted as a priority due to its close ties through its many followers and players from that region,” highlighted in an official statement the club, which still has partnerships with Olybet, RB88 and Vwin for other markets outside Spain.
Other examples are Mallorca, Getafe, Valladolid and Celta, which closed with Wolf777 in Asia. Osasuna has a contract with bet365, while Villarreal has an agreement with Fifo88.
Among the giants, the same movement. Real Madrid has Sportybet and Codere in its portfolio. Barcelona has an agreement with 1XBet abroad. Finally, Atlético de Madrid has a regional partnership in Asia with Ayx.
In Spain, betting sites have sponsorship agreements with 31 of the 40 clubs that play in the Spanish first and second divisions.
In 2020, the Council of Ministers approved a new decree to end the exposure of betting brands on TV broadcasts of tournaments. Two years later, the law made no master sponsorship with betting sites appear on team uniforms.
According to LaLiga, the damage left by the ban on betting on club uniforms was €90 million.
