Sports betting firm may be the financial key for Club World Cup broadcast rights in Brazil

The 2023 FIFA Club World Cup takes place from February 1 to 11 in Morocco. The deadline for media groups to submit proposals to buy the broadcast rights of the tournament ended this Monday (9). The four largest networks in Brazil (Globo, SBT, Band and Record) are keeping an eye on the contract. To make the offer viable, a large betting company is in negotiation with one of the TV channels.

In his column at UOL Esporte, journalista Marcel Rizzo states that in addition to the traditional proposals for the contract, there are parallel strategies to try to reach the best offer, and a large company in the sports betting industry would be the key to air the event on open TV by becoming the main partner of the broadcast.

FIFA also negotiates, through the Brazilian partner Livemode, the sale of the paid package, which covers cable channels and streaming. There is a possibility that the competition will be broadcast live on the entity's internet platform, Fifa+, which premiered in April last year.

In the FIFA Club World Cup, Flamengo will be the Brazilian representative, as it won the Copa Libertadores. Real Madrid will be the team representing the European Champions League.

FIFA will draw on Friday (13) the World Cup schedule of games. The event will take place at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, the country's important training center for young players, which is close to the capital Rabat. The city is the main candidate to host the World Cup final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.

Tangier, in the north of the country and near the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates Morocco from Spain, is also a candidate. Usually the representative of the host country plays the first game, in a clash against the champion of Oceania, but this time the Moroccan Widad Casabalanca is also the African champion, so will enter directly in the quarterfinals, on February 4, along with Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, and the Seattle Sounders (USA).

The initial confrontation will be between Al-Ahly, from Egypt and runner-up from Africa, and Auckland City, from New Zealand, on February 1st. Flamengo debuts in the semifinals on February 7 and Real Madrid the next day, the 8th.
