Wanderlei Barbosa projects the generation of jobs in the 139 municipalities of the Brazilian State from the institution of lotteries in all Tocantins cities. “The Law that authorizes the public service of lotteries aims to generate more jobs, promote social projects and attract more investments and resources to the state, without the need to increase taxes. The next step is the call for Public Consultation and Public Hearing,” says the governor.
The direction of lottery collection is also defined by law. 10% will be allocated to the implementation and improvement of actions and services contemplated for sport; 10% to actions aimed at combating and treating cancer in the state; 5% to actions and services related to investments in information technology used in the State's tax collection activity carried out by the Treasury Department and the State Attorney General's Office; and 5% to Apae actions and services.
The remaining 70% of resources will be defined and designated annually via decree, in accordance with the regulations of the State Executive Branch.
Responsible for the Secretariat of Partnerships and Investments (SPI), José Humberto Pereira Muniz Filho provides forecasts; “The studies indicate the viability of the common concession of the State Lottery. The project is modern and adequate to the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court that recognized the competence of the State to do so. Furthermore, it brings legal certainty to the market and aims to guarantee the economic and social development of all municipalities, in line with the governor's municipal and social policy. The forecast for carrying out the bidding is still in the first half of 2023.”
The State Lottery is a project of the Partnerships and Investments Program (Tocantins-PPI), created in May 2020, with the objective of expanding and strengthening the interaction between the State and the private sector, through the celebration of partnerships and concessions, in addition to other privatization measures.
