Botafogo should formalize the partnership soon. According to the information of Jotta Cavalcante and journalist Matheus Medeiros on Twitter, the deal will be for two years.
The amounts should be close to R$ 30 million (US$ 5.7m) per season, the largest in the history of the club and that should be among the three largest in Brazil behind only Flamengo and Palmeiras.
Botafogo's new partner is based in Cyprus and also supports Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leicester City, all Premier League clubs.
The name of the bookmaker was kept confidential but it was known that it was a foreign brand that did not work in Brazil yet, but that seeks to expand investments in the country.
Agreement puts Botafogo ahead of Corinthians (R$ 20 million –US$ 3.8.m- with Neo Química) and behind Palmeiras (R$ 30 million - US$ 5.7m- from Crefisa) and Flamengo (R$ 33 million – US$ 6.3m- from BRB).
Currently, the ‘Alvinegro’ has a contractual relationship with Blaze, also in the sports betting business. The company even offered a renewal in the amount of R$ 16 million (US$ 3.05m) annually, but the Rio de Janeiro club has traded with other brands for a much higher value.
Botafogo takes advantage of the period without games to strengthen the squad and outline the planning for next season. However, in order to have more options, manager John Textor knows that the club will have to have more in cash. For this, the American has been acting behind the scenes to achieve the feat. And one of those steps is to get a new master sponsor.
According to Medeiros, the ‘Alvinegro’ now negotiates a sponsorship for the sleeves of the shirt. In addition to the new partnership with Parimatch, Botafogo will have a new supplier of uniforms in 2023. Reebok was announced in November and will have a three-year contract.
