A series of ordinances were published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Monday (2), as the first measures of replacement of servers in different positions of direct administration in the Executive, involving several ministries and, in this first list, thousands of servers.
Among the closest to the gaming and betting sector is Iuri Ribeiro da Silva Castro, who held since May last year the position of Undersecretary of Betting and Commercial Promotion of the Secretariat of Economic Monitoring of the Special Secretariat of Productivity and Competitiveness.
On his shoulders was the regulation of sports betting, organizing in the Ministry of Economy a structure that would control the fixed quota modality. The draft decree regulating the activity was exclusively disclosed by GMB shortly after the now former secretary took office.
Iuri Castro approached the industry to hear all the demands of the segment to make the necessary changes to the final decree of regulation of sports betting, but in the face of the ineffectiveness of the previous government, the deadline of December 12 was not met.
Iuri Castro, throughout this period, said at various times that its entire structure was increasingly close to a final document and that the decision would be much more political than technical for approval, and that therefore it would happen in the "time of politics", that is, if President Jair Bolsonaro wanted. But he didn't want to.
Castro is a career employee of Caixa Econômica Federal and was designed at the Ministry of Economy. It is expected that as soon as a replacement is appointed, the new official would listen his comments on the topic, as all discussions on regulation have moved forward and it would be a step backwards to start all over again.
