GMB - What is your assessment of Salsa's performance and growth in 2022? Was it what you expected or did it exceed expectations?
Peter Nolte - Salsa is today the biggest supplier of technology for the gaming industry in Brazil. Our platform, our content and our experience with the Brazilian market guarantee us a very important competitive advantage, especially in the face of an audience profile whose demand for location is absolute to guarantee customer engagement and retention. 2022 was a year of expectations regarding market regulation and Salsa is absolutely ready for it. At that point, we expected to be at least warming up and with the rules of the sector already clear and established; but on the contrary, we remain in expectation about what will happen both with the new government and with the “new” Congress.
Could you list the main accomplishments or goals achieved in 2022?
In 2022 Salsa had great achievements. One of the most important, without a doubt, was the certification by the Malta Gaming Authority, the MGA. Another milestone was the new development API for our platform (PAM) Salsa Omni, which by separating BackEnd and FrontEnd allowed the user interface, FrontEnd, to have a great leap in quality in terms of player experience (UX) and, consequently, a great ally for our partners in terms of customer acquisition and retention.
We also developed a system of agents completely integrated into our platform that allows casinos and bookmakers to manage their retail networks in a practical and safe way. We are also working on the integration of new CRM and PowerBI tools in order to guarantee our customers a 360° view of operations and immediate access to the data necessary to guide business strategies.
We have been at important industry events, either as visitors, exhibitors or speakers, such as ICE London, iGB Live in Amsterdam, Afiliados Brasil and BiS in São Paulo, G2E in Las Vegas, SBC Barcelona, CGS Brasil in Florianópolis and SiGMA in Malta. We entered into new partnerships, expanded and renewed the game portfolio of our Salsa Gator aggregator.
We brought new talents to our team, like our COO André Neves, and some talents returned to our family, like our CTO, Diego Mourglia.
We ended 2022 with a big increase to our Salsa Consulting outsourcing hub, which is already starting to provide platform customers with services such as Customer Support setup and also branding. We are in the final stretch to launch our native Sportsbook platform and this will also be an important step for our business.
In your sector within the industry, what topics or technological advances do you think will dominate the market in 2023? What will be the future trends?
In terms of technology, without a doubt, the use of artificial intelligence, web3, among others. Another aspect is that with the changing profile of traditional players, with the more massive presence of a younger audience and even more digitally oriented, the challenge is to increasingly adapt the user experience with social media and more engaging content. I also see that we had a belief that, with the end of the peak of the pandemic, that the lives of people and companies would return to normal, for example with face-to-face work, but what has been confirmed is the preference for the hybrid or remote work modality, and this certainly brings great challenges in managing people and technologies that can support this new reality.
Have you noticed that the Brazilian gaming market has evolved this year, or has it missed another opportunity? What do you see about the regulation in the country for 2023?
Both statements are true. The market has evolved, after all, regardless of regulation, the market exists, is thriving and improves with practice. The great diversity of players and the day-to-day guarantee great examples of good practices and also what not to do, such as leaving aside the location, considering Latin America, and especially Brazil, as a single thing. With the lack of regulation, the market loses in maturity and perhaps in credibility for those who do not have access to information about gambling as part of the entertainment industry, which, once regulated, generates more jobs, foreign exchange, and has numerous mechanisms to protect its customers. Yes, the market even loses, but the country loses much more. We hope for this new year that the leaders, both the Executive and the Legislative, assume their responsibilities with the country.
What are Salsa's main goals/objectives for 2023?
In addition to confirming our goal of being one of the first certified platforms for the Brazilian regulated market, we want to be the preferred technology provider for Brazilians. And reasons for this preference abound. Our platform (PAM) Salsa Omni, Salsa Sportsbook and the Salsa Gator aggregator are all integrated with numerous payment methods, affiliate management systems, digital marketing tools, etc. Our team is present in all regions of Brazil and we are going to considerably expand our team, especially in the area of development and quality control. We believe that 2023 will be the year where we will see the Brazilian market regulated and Salsa will certainly be a major player in it.
