Diego Salas, Sales Director for Latam

"Altenar is ready to meet all the requirements of the new regulation in Brazil"

On the first day of G2E Las Vegas, GMB had an exclusive conversation with Diego Salas, Sales Director for Latam at Altenar. At their bustling booth at the expo, the executive discussed the company's interest in the Brazilian market, where they already have significant success, and how they are preparing for the upcoming regulatory framework. Additionally, he talked about Altenar's plans to enter the American market, among other topics.

GMB: What do you think about the creation of a specific iGaming area at the Las Vegas trade show?
Diego Salas:
Las Vegas has always been a focal point for operators, not only from America but from all continents. It has always been a significant topic for casinos, retail, and land-based operations. However, today, with the rise of sports betting, not only in the United States but in the entire American continent, it's essential to have a showcase of everything that sports betting providers like us can offer.

Are sports betting the booming business right now?
Let's say it's the business to exploit. Nowadays, sports betting is booming in America and in markets like Canada and Latin America. Altenar is very strong in this area, and for us, it's the perfect stage.

We have beloved customers from Latin America and Canada at this exhibition, and, of course, European customers as well. So, it's a central and fundamental point for us to showcase our sports betting system and prepare to enter the American market. We are actively seeking a partner or client that will enable us to expand into this market.

Additionally, we are already present in Canadian and Mexican markets, where the approach is very American. Therefore, we are already prepared, and everything is in place.

What's the business like in other Latin American countries?
Brazil is a very attractive market for us, and we are positioned well there. Colombia is another market we have a lot of interest in. We were one of the first providers to work and obtain certifications once it was regulated. Peru is another market that we hold dear. Overall, Latin America is a crucial region for our sports betting business.

Are there any updates on the platform you are presenting at the trade show?
Nowadays, it's not enough to offer sports betting; you have to provide more than that. Everyone offers the same events, like the Champions League final. You have to differentiate yourself. Altenar is showcasing a system here that is adaptable to each region. Latin America is a very diverse market in each country, even though they share the same language. So, the system we are presenting is adaptable to each region, with a different risk strategy and tools, along with 24-hour support that we constantly provide.

Are you also offering sports betting in eSports?
Yes, we do offer eSports. Brazil is a booming market for eSports for us. We have a very good product that is available to our operators, and now more than ever, they are realizing the potential of this modality.

What will you do when regulation arrives in Brazil?
We are ready. Currently, we have certifications as a provider in Canada, Mexico, Colombia. Our legal team is prepared to meet the certifications or requirements necessary when regulation is definitively introduced in Brazil.
