Senator Romário (PL-RJ) presented his report on Bill 3626//2023, which regulates sports betting in Brazil. The 27-page document resumes the five-year period for the license, maintained the value of R$30 million US$ 5.95m for the grant and guaranteed the exploitation of two brands by bookmakers that apply for authorization.
All other amendments presented at the beginning of the project's processing in the Senate were rejected in the report prepared by Romário.
The senator rearranged some rates allocated to the tourism and health sectors and ordered a ban on betting on isolated events, such as corners, throw-ins and cards (yellow and red). The objective is to curb the manipulation of results in sport.
During the meeting, some senators demonstrated their opposition to the approval of the government's Bill and were asked to see the report presented by Romário.
Furthermore, a public hearing was requested to continue discussions on the report, which should take place next Monday (23) or Tuesday (24), as the vote on the document presented by the president of CEsp will take place on Wednesday (25).
