Throughout the morning of this Monday (2), the Brazilian Association for the Defense of Sports Integrity (Abradie) took all its expertise to the National Futsal League, which brings together 24 of the main indoor football clubs in Brazil.
The workshop, organized by Abradie, featured a presentation by Guilherme Buso, director of the entity and senior account executive at Genius Sports, one of the founders of Abradie.
The objective was to clarify doubts on topics such as manipulation of results in sports betting, the importance of integrity for sport and good practices for a safe environment.
"Education is key to instigating long-term change in the threat of match-fixing and betting-related corruption. Athletes, coaches and referees need to understand how they can be approached by people seeking information, how they should respond and what the consequences of this are,” stated Guilherme Buso.
According to him, all topics linked to the inappropriate exploitation of sports betting were addressed, with an emphasis on the manipulation of results themselves and individual actions, privileged information and violations of rules in competitions.
“Working on the issue of integrity is fundamental for a reliable sports ecosystem and education is the first step towards the definitive achievement of integrity,” stated Buso, highlighting that “it was a pleasure to be able to talk a little about this topic with all the teams that compete in this important competition on the Brazilian sporting scene.”
The director of Abradie and executive of Genius Sports gave his recognition to the National Futsal League for opening the entity's doors for the workshop:
“I would like to thank the directors of the LNF for understanding and acting in education and awareness on the issue for Brazilian futsal about the integrity of the sport related to sports betting.”
