The "Bet on São Paulo" event will address the regulation of sports betting in Brazil and the advantages that the city of São Paulo offers to the sector. The goal is to discuss strategies for developing and strengthening the sports betting market and to seek collaborations and the best business arrangements in the region.
Impacts of regulation
The panel PM 1,182/2023 and sports betting will begin at 9:30 am, with the participation of Andre Gelfi, president of IBJR, José Francisco Manssur, special advisor to the Ministry of Finance, and Maria Luiza Kurban Jobim, from the Maia Yoshiyasu office, with moderation by Michael Cerqueira, director of São Paulo Negócios. This panel will debate Provisional Measure (PM) 1,182/2023 and Bill 3636/2023, currently being processed in the Senate.
Next, “The impact of regulation on the daily life of the sports betting chain” will bring together Leonardo Baptista, CEO of Pay4Fun, Bárbara Teles, general secretary of the OAB-DF Gaming Commission and Bernardo Freitas, director of new businesses and digital products from CBV. The moderation will be in charge of Raquel Rocha, institutional relations manager at the entity.
Organized by São Paulo Negócios (the investment promotion agency of the Municipal Government), in collaboration with the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) and Arena Hub, the meeting is supported by Rei do Pitaco, Pay4Fun, and Maia Yoshiyasu Advogados.
It's worth noting that at the end of 2022, the São Paulo City Council approved an executive bill that reduced the ISS (Service Tax) to 2% for businesses related to the entertainment sector, including sports betting establishments. On that occasion, the mayor reaffirmed support for the activity and the city of São Paulo's goal to attract more companies to operate within the municipality.
