Offshore betting companies begin to be notified extrajudicially by Lottopar

With the start of sports betting operations in Paraná getting closer and some concessionaires already in the process of integrating with Lottopar's management platform and payment methods, the company is extrajudicially notifying those without authorization from the state or the federal government. The measure aims to ensure the legal security of lottery operations and also provide more safety for bettors.

Thus, unauthorized sites are aware that once authorized company operations begin, they will be operating illegally and irregularly, and they will not be able to continue offering bets in the jurisdiction of Paraná. Approximately 350 sites offering betting services in Brazil and Paraná will receive this notification.

"A market that operated for many years without rules, in a gray area and without regulation, with a significant portion of resources staying outside of Brazil, now has the opportunity to operate in a legalized environment, offering more security to bettors, job creation, transparency, and with some of the resources being invested in public safety, housing, and social initiatives," said Lottopar's president, Daniel Romanowski.

"We cannot allow illegal entities to continue offering betting services in a regulated environment like Paraná. This is just the first step among many other actions and partnerships that are coming to combat illegal gambling," he emphasized.

Identification of the sites

The bettors in Paraná will be able to easily distinguish an authorized site from an illegal one through a verification seal. The Authorized Site and Authorized App seal is mandatory for both the website and the equipment of companies authorized to operate in Paraná.

With this seal, it is ensured to the bettor that they are accessing the website of a regulated, legalized, and authorized company to operate in Paraná, or that the equipment used by lottery companies is properly registered and verified by Lottopar, a joint effort developed in collaboration with testing and certification laboratories.
