Loterias CAIXA collection grows 1.3% in 9M23 reaching US$3.3 billion

Caixa Econômica Federal has just released its balance sheet for the 9 months of 2023. Profit reached R$7.8 billion (US$ 1.6bn), 8.4% more than in 9M22. Loterias CAIXA raised R$16.2 billion (US$ 3.3bn), a value 1.3% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year.

In 9M23, Loterias CAIXA raised R$16.2 billion (US$ 3.3bn), a value 1.3% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year. The total net prize awarded to bettors in the period was R$5.2 billion (US$ 1.05bn).

Loterias CAIXA constitute an important source of resources to promote social development in Brazil. In 9M23, R$6.4 billion (US$ 1.3bn), equivalent to 39.4% of the total collected, was allocated to the Federal Government's social programs in the areas of social security, sport, culture, public security, education and health. The amount is 2.7% higher than that allocated in 9M22, in addition to the return to society via Income Tax payments.

Bank results

CAIXA's recurring net profit was R$3.2 billion (US$ 650m) in 3Q23, an increase of 16.5% compared to 3Q22. In 9M23, profit reached R$7.8 billion (US$ 1.6bn), 8.4% higher than that achieved in 9M22.

The financial margin reached R$14.5 billion (US$ 2.95bn) in 3Q23, growth of 15.7% when compared to 3Q22. The growth in 12 months was mainly due to increases of 17.0% in credit revenues and 30.3% as a result of interbank liquidity applications.
