Rei do Pitaco joins the UN Global Compact in Brazil

Rei do Pitaco has just joined the UN Global Compact in Brazil, a United Nations initiative to mobilize the business community to adopt ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and combating corruption. “We aim to help develop new practices for the benefit of the people who work with us', explains Michelly Monteiro, director of Rei do Pitaco.

With the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Global Compact also assumed the mission of engaging the private sector in this new agenda.

Even before its accession, Rei do Pitaco has developed and adopted several actions aligned with the SDGs, focusing on gender equality and reducing inequalities. Currently, sportstech has affinity and support groups structured by its employees, such as Pride do Pitaco (for people from the LGBTQIAP+ community), Mães do Pitaco (for all mothers in the company) and CRESPPO (King's Collective About People Pretas Organizados, aimed at black people in the company).

Rei do Pitaco values transparency and the fight against corruption, being the first company in the gaming sector in Brazil to have four ISO certifications (ISO 9.001 - quality management certification; ISO 27.001 - Information Security certification; ISO 37.001 - certification of the anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption system; and ISO 37.301 - compliance certification).

As a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General, the UN Global Compact is a call for companies around the world to align their operations and strategies with ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

Launched in 2000, the Global Compact guides and supports the global business community in advancing the UN's goals and values through responsible corporate practices. With more than 16 thousand companies and almost 4 thousand non-business organizations, distributed in 70 local networks, covering almost 170 countries, it is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world.

“We recognize the social importance of the UN Global Compact as a way of adopting new actions that value human rights, work, the environment and the fight against corruption. We believe that it is also our role to seek a more equal world and our adherence aims to assist in the development of new practices shaped by the SDGs for the benefit of the people who work with us and the sector itself," explains Michelly Monteiro, Director of Operations and People at Rei do Pitaco.

By joining the Global Compact, sportech commits to reporting annually on progress in relation to the Ten Principles. Thus, the initiative encourages the constant evolution of internal sustainability practices.

The UN Brazil Global Compact was created in 2003, and today it is the third largest local network in the world, with more than 1,600 participants. The more than 40 projects carried out in the country mainly cover the themes: Water and Sanitation, Food and Agriculture, Energy and Climate, Human Rights and Labor, Anti-Corruption, Engagement and Communication.

Rei do Pitaco is a reference in sports entertainment through the daily fantasy game platform through which users create lineups with athletes and score points according to the statistical performance of these players in real-life matches.

Unlike competitors, Rei do Pitaco users compete for prizes at the end of each round or games. Sportstech was founded in 2019 with the central purpose of bringing more fun and entertainment to the lives of those who love sport.
